Vor einigen Tagen habe ich das Buch von Shlomo Venezia mit dem Titel
Meine Arbeit im Sonderkommando Auschwitz: Das erste umfassende Zeugnis eines Überlebenden gekauft. Ich habe einen Bericht über das Buch auf der
zeit.de gelesen und habe es sofort bestellt. Heute habe ich es fertig gelesen und ich bin erschüttert. Das Buch beschreibt das Unbeschreibliche, erzählt das Unvorstellbare... Man sagt ja, dass sich die Geschichte immer wieder wiederholt. Hoffen wir, dass diese sich nicht wiederholen wird.

On this Saturday I'm flying to the Big Apple! Not to relax, but to attend a summer school in Princeton. It will be my very first visit to the USA and I must say, I'm quite excited.
Of course, after two weeks of hard study, I have to relax by sightseeing in New York... Let's see whether they will let me in without any trouble since it was a very
complicated procedure to get the visa.

Wir sollten auf die Öko-Energie à la CDU setzen. Unbedingt.
I'm going to visit the USA in July this year for a summer school. Since the USA do not have a visa waiver program for South Korea, I had to get the visa. The organizer of the school recommended to apply for a B1/B2 visa. The process is very complicated. First, you have to pay approx. 90 Euros. Then you get a certificate of payment (via mail). To get an appointment through the internet, you additionally have to pay $ 10. Just to get an appointment! You can of course call the consulate and get one, but you have to pay approx. 1.90 Euros per minute!!! Well, I only got an appointment for 7:45 AM, AM, AM!!! Please remember that the nearest consulate is located in Frankfurt, two hours by train.
Anyway, I now got a visa and it's valid until 2018!

As always, there was the Spring String School at the ICTP, Trieste. This year I was there with others from the group. It was quite nice! There were many very interesting lectures. However, they were also on high level. I did not understand much. Especially, the lecture by G. Moore was particularly difficult... The first two lectures were quite OK, since we went through the Zagier's lecture notes, but the following lectures were, well, like a
farey tail... :-)
